Pentax Optio W30

The Optio W30 is a basic point and shoot camera that is also waterproof and dustproof. The front and back metal body makes Optio quite sturdy. It is easy to use and incorporates varied number of features. The lens extension is internal and the capture speed is good. The lens apart from optical zoom also uses the refractive lens function. Since, there is no lens cover that comes bundled with the purchase, it needs to be bought additionally along with the plastic cover for protecting the LCD screen. The LCD screen does have an anti reflective coating that is essentially useful for outdoor shooting. The Optio W30 is compatible with new SDHC memory cards, in addition to conventional SD memory cards but.

The battery life is average and requires some additional spares. The new auto-lock mechanism automatically locks the battery cover when closed. The digital zoom provides 4x of magnification and the digital filter function allows for quick editing of pictures. There is also an image Recovery function that lets the users retrieve the accidentally erased pictures. The Optio W30 is suited for both outdoor and indoor photography. The soft flash function prevents overexposure in close up photography. The Auto-tracking AF can continuously focus on a moving subject and does not allow image shake or blur during recording. There is also a red eye correction function. The Optio W30 has 25 built in shooting modes and 15 playback preset modes for picture display. It saves a lot of precious time in setting the individual controls that is certainly difficult for novices. The Pentax Optio is supplied with the Pentax image viewer/image management software that also supports PictBridge, DPOF functions, Exif Print, and PRINT Image Matching III.

Overall, the pentax Optio is a great compact point and shoot camera for tough shooting conditions and leaves the photographers a little cause of worry.
