Power Shot SD850 Review

The Power Shot SD850 IS Digital is powered with a high-resolution 8-megapixel CCD, a 4x optical for zooming and an Optical Image Stabilizer technology for preventing camera shake that lead to fizzy images. It is bundled with the DIGIC III Image Processor with Face Detection and red-eye correction software that can also manually correct red eye during playback. Power Shot SD 850 has the ISO 1600 setting for clarity of images in poor light, up to 5 Movie Modes and a 2.5-inch LCD display with scratch-resistant and anti-reflective coating for extended life. Users can choose between the VGA and QVGA movie modes for up to 1 hour of recording. The images display amazing clarity and brilliant colors in assistance with its elite UA lens with ultra-high refractive index glass. The exposure to various light conditions and flash are automatically controlled allowing for optimum lighting for both the subject and the background scene, thereby neutralizing the recurrent problem of overexposed or poorly lit subjects. Canon Power Shot SD 850 supports the high speed data transfer and direct print options for printers that supports pictBridge.

However, Canon SD 850 has few manual adjustments options like the shutter speed or aperture. Fast moving images if captured often look blurred and white spots may appear when flash is used. The flash may prove to be a little inadequate for indoor shooting. There may also be emerging problems of warping with SD 850 wherein the images may appear to be a little curved at the edges. The Power Shot SD 850 is not equipped with a battery indicator leaving users fumbling when the screen suddenly flashes low battery that too with little backup. For some, the SD 850 may seem to be a little overpriced and hence require some consideration before purchase. The Canon SD 850 has a great looking metal body but not good balancing and hold.

The sheer power of Canon Power Shot SD 850 is tremendous in terms of image quality. It is small and powerful for a snapshot camera and scored well for its size and sharpness of pictures.
