Studio Plus version 10.5 Titanium Edition Review
With the ease of usability and multitudes of features Pinnacle Studio is not only the most popular video-editing program it is by far the best on the market.
The 10.5 version release has solved the stability issues of earlier releases.
Pinnacle Studio offers three versions ($69.99 direct) that doesn’t have the overlay tracks necessary for picture-in-picture and chroma-key effects, speed adjustments and the ability to create DVDs with more that one menu. This review will mainly focus on the Titanium Edition ($99.99); through the Media Studio edition ($129.99) adds image and audio editing tools.
Studio has been designed to be an easy to use consumer editor, with features customized for consumer video products.
When you first open Studio Plus, you will realize how easy it is to create videos. Studio’s attractive interface has three main areas, Capture, Edit and Make Movie.
The capture section allows you to capture clips manually or have studio detect the scene changes automatically and capture each clip for you.
Both features work great, simply plug your DV camcorder into your computer and Studio instantly recognizes it to begin editing.
Studio has three editing styles to choose from, you can place your clips in a storyboard layout, use the traditional timeline setup, or a list layout similar to windows explorer. Studio 10 incorporated the preview and rendering engine of its prosumer counterpart, Liquid Edition, which is highly regarded for stability, real-time preview, capabilities, and multi-format file handling.
Studio Plus comes with an extensive library of effects and transitions. Studio has the standard transitions like dissolve and wipes as well as optional theme packs for wedding, sporting events and more.
Studio’s automatic color correction is the best in its class, as is its image stabilization feature, which Premiere Elements doesn’t offer and it is more superior to Ulead Visual Studio 10 and Cyberlinks’ Media Producer.
You also get the benefit of keyframable real-time effects with preview and Profe ssional TV Style effects.
Studio is also creates outstanding DVDs with little effort. It comes with a tremendous number of DVD templates and comes bundled with Instant DVD Recorder for converting VHS and other tape-based media in a single step.
The Titanium Edition can now export video to Apple’s iPod and Sony’s Platstation Portable (PSP).
Studio TE’s enhanced support for MPEG-4 files allows easy exporting of any video to these portable video devices. Support for DivX files also allows exporting to DivX enabled devices.
You also receive the RTFX Volume 1 for free (a $99.99 value) This video plug-in for professional level special effects.
